Unboxing Your New Mattress

Congratulations on your new Megsu mattress! Follow these steps for a smooth unboxing experience.

Before You Begin

  • Clear the area — Make sure your bed frame or foundation is set up and the room is clear
  • Get a helper — While one person can manage, having a second person makes it easier
  • Use scissors carefully — You'll need them to open the packaging, but be careful not to cut the mattress

Step-by-Step Unboxing

Step 1: Position the Box

Place the box on or near your bed frame. It's much easier to unbox the mattress where you plan to use it rather than carrying it after it expands.

Step 2: Open the Box

Use scissors or a box cutter to open the top of the box. Remove any packing materials.

Step 3: Remove the Rolled Mattress

Carefully slide the rolled mattress out of the box and place it on your bed frame. Position it where you want it before unrolling.

Step 4: Unroll the Mattress

Cut the outer plastic wrap and unroll the mattress flat on the frame. The mattress may start expanding immediately.

Step 5: Remove the Final Layer

Cut the final vacuum-sealed plastic layer. You'll see the mattress begin to expand right away.

Step 6: Let It Expand

  • The mattress will reach most of its size within a few hours
  • Full expansion and firmness may take 24–48 hours
  • Some initial off-gassing odor is normal and will dissipate within a few days

Tips for Best Results

  • Don't sleep on it immediately — Give it at least 4–6 hours to expand
  • Open windows — Good ventilation helps with any initial foam smell
  • Room temperature matters — The mattress expands faster in a warm room
  • Don't use sharp objects near the mattress — Accidentally cutting the foam or fabric can damage it

How Long Can It Stay in the Box?

We recommend unboxing your mattress within 2 weeks of receiving it. Leaving it compressed for too long may affect its performance and comfort.

Note: It's normal for your mattress to feel slightly different during the first few nights as the foams fully expand and adjust to your sleep environment.
